The Symposium on Soft Matter and Bioengineering (SSMB 2026) will bring together academic researchers and industry professionals working in soft matter, bioengineering and microfluidics for a two-day meeting at IIT Madras. The event will feature keynote lectures by internationally recognized scientists alongside leading researchers from India, with a strong emphasis on student participation through poster presentations and awards.

The symposium will also address current challenges and open questions in the field through dedicated panel discussions aimed at identifying impactful research directions and developing a roadmap for future work. It will serve as a platform to showcase cutting-edge research from groups across India and around the world in Soft matter & Bioengineering to a diverse international audience.

In addition, SSMB 2026 will foster meaningful networking among domestic and international researchers, invited speakers, and participants, encouraging collaborations such as joint degree programs, student exchanges, faculty mobility, and joint research initiatives. The conference will also promote interaction between startups and academic researchers, potentially leading to new innovation-driven partnerships.

SSMB 2026 marks the inaugural Indian conference hosted by the Indian Society for Miniaturized Systems (ISMS).
